This is one of the classic arguments against God’s existence: “If God exists, then why does He allow so much evil in the world”.  New believers will most likely be caught off guard by this statement and have no way of countering that argument, however once you know it, it’s easy to debunk.

Genesis 2:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.”

It all starts in Genesis.  When God created man, He not only made him good, but also gave him a free will.  A free will is the ability to choose your own decisions without anybody else controling them.

God gave us a free will so we could make our own decisions, ultimately, to eat the tree of good or eat the tree of evil.  God desired this ability in us because He is a God that loves us.  God could of just not given us this atribute and choose the decision for us, but that would equal tyrrany. God only desires those chosen people who truly love Him because they love Him, and aren’t forced into loving God (which wouldn’t be love at all).

When Adam made his decision, he chose evil over good.  This is what caused the entire world and all of the universe to fall and decay.  Remember, WE choose evil and ultimately sin, not God.

But remember!  Even though we did fall and choose sin, God gave us a seccond chance.  Jesus was our seccond chance, He died for us so that we might live again!  It’s amazing that God even gave us a seccond chance, God could of just left us to rot on earth and never sent Jesus to give us that seccond chance.  If God did so, he would be completely justified in His actions!

Mans Corruption

Because Adam choose sin, we ALL are corrupted. Man will always sin and fall short to the Glory Of God unless they are saved.  The best way to get your unbeliving person to realize that he needs saving is thru Christ.  Always point back to how evil and corrupt man is by nature, meanwhile God is all powerful, all knowing, and infinite.  He needs to realize that he is evil from the heart, if he doesn’t thing he’s saved, then his pride is getting in the way.  Ask him if he’s ever committed anything wrong (not just murder, but lying, stealing, hatered, (unrighteous) frustration etc.) and I can gurantee you that he has commited something wrong and evil.  The only human that can ever come into God’s presents and truly, legitly, be saved would be if he was 100% perfect. Obviously, no human is ever going to accomplish that because we are sinners by nature.

Conclusion

While it may seem hard to the unbeliever to realize that evil is allowed by God, because of our sin.   There is always a seccond chance, and that is thru Christ Jesus Our Lord!

for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God set forth [as] a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed, to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.  Romans 3:23-26
